Hardwired Intercom

A hardwired intercom system consists of a physical connection from an external monitor to an internal monitor or from the external monitor to you router. This configuration presents several advantages and disadvantages. On one hand, the installation process necessitates an upfront investment for excavating the drive and concealing cables. On the other hand, this setup eliminates monthly fees and connectivity issues.

SIM Card

A SIM card operated intercom system utilises a mobile phone SIM card for signal purposes. The SIM card allows the intercom to receive internet connection, just like a mobile phone. It may encounter difficulties should there be network-related signal losses. There are also monthly operational expenses for the network. An excellent choice for avoiding the installation of wires, it is the optimal solution for numerous households.

Radio

You can install an intercom system that uses radio frequency for connection. Comes with no monthly costs and no wires to install. A lot of models now come with a fantastic range 20m+. Works best when internal monitors are by a window for the frequency waves.

Wi-Fi

This option is only as reliable as your Wi-fi. If your Wi-fi strength is weak in your home then it is not the best option. You can buy boosters for your driveway to help with the signal strength. Each drive is different; trees and obstacles can impact signal strength.

Audio only intercom will not enable you to visually see anyone.

Video intercom has a camera built in so you can see who is at your gate.

Audio Intercom

An audio intercom system does not allow you to visually see who rings your bell. These systems come hardwired, SIM card operated or via radio frequencies. You can also have this option on a smartphone to allow remote access. Many clients find they prefer this as they use their CCTV to watch visitors/delivery drivers they allow on to their drive. An intercom camera only shows you who is at the gate.

Video Intercom

A video intercom system allows you to visually see who rings your bell. These systems come hardwired, wireless & SIM card operated. You can also have this option on a smartphone to allow remote access. Many models save an image when your doorbell is activated.

Smart Phone

This allows you to operate your gates via a mobile phone device (app). It does depend on your requirements to which system would best suit. Do you need to let parcels in? Do you have contractors at your home? Do you need to leave your gates open between a set time? You are best talking through options with our office to ensure the correct system is installed at your gate.

QR Code

This particular function operates by generating a QR code on the device. This QR code can be transmitted to various individuals such as; cleaners, gardeners, delivery drivers etc. By utilizing the intercom's camera, it is possible to scan the QR code, which subsequently activates the device to open the gates.

Facial Recognition

Upon positioning your face in front of the intercom, if you are a saved user, the gate will automatically grant access.

This sophisticated feature ensures effortless ingress to your premises, eliminating the necessity of remembering a remote control or pin code.

Keypad

A keypad is a great addition to an intercom as it allows you to operate your gates street side, via a code.

There will be times you forget your remote; just run out to the shops, kids leave their keys at home, delivery comes. A keypad offers you the convivence of being able to open your gates without a remote.

Monitor

An internal monitor can come in a range of options depending on the intercom brand and model you opt for.

Monitors can be located in a fixed position inside your home or use Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi allows you to move the indoor monitor to any location in your home.

You can use an Ipad (or similar) as an indoor monitor on some intercom systems.

Ridge Auto Gates were a pleasure to deal with. I emailed Lauren on Thursday afternoon and she contacted me on Friday morning to arrange for Ashley to attend my malfunctioning gate on Monday morning. What can I say! What a outstanding 5 star job Ashley & Lauren have done for us. From day one we knew we had the right people to do our gates, so much so I never even got any other quotes! From the planning to the design and the install I could not fault ridge auto's,. I'd seen a design of gate I liked and it was no problem to them, a 5 meter cantilever gate with a matching side gate. I told Ashley I wanted it over engineered and the results are just amazing, we absolutely love them ! It is reassuring to be able to still find true craftsman out there! You guys should be so proud of what you do, down to every finer detail it's been perfect! I'm sure I've been a constant pain in Lauren's side but nothing has been to much, every step of the way we have had total confidence in ridge auto's, professional all the way! We could not happier!

5 Stars – Top Class from Start to Finish
Can’t recommend Ridge Auto Gates enough. Lauren and Ashley have been brilliant from the first message I sent. Super quick to respond, made everything really straightforward, and gave loads of helpful advice along the way — even pointed out a few things I hadn’t thought of.

The end result looks spot on — electric gate, side gate and pedestrian gate all installed and working perfectly. It’s honestly made such a difference to the front of the house. Everything ran like clockwork on install day, and you can tell they really care about doing a great job.

Best part is, they’re just genuinely lovely people. Friendly, easy to deal with, and clearly take pride in what they do. I’m made up with how it’s turned out — absolutely top class service all round.

Dont usually write reviews but because most of us will rarely use a service like this its nice to have an idea who you are dealing with. Phoned them as my gates stopped working between christmas and new year. Within 2 days an engineer came to inspect. I new everything was old and worn out so we decided to fit all new mechanisms and rewire the whole thing again. Within 2 weeks they were back to do the job, turned up on time with a smile in their faces and got stuck in right away. Absolutely fantastic service and very easy to deal with. I would highly recommend them if you need youre gates putting right. Thank you very much for doing such a good job.

Five star service. On the first callout the engineer, Ashley, was well into mid evening with me, brilliant. Ridge reacted quickly to my predicament of the automated drive gate not working. Not only that I received a quotation for motor replacement from Lauren within 24 hours, and the new motor was fitted within a few days. I was so impressed that I have set up an annual service with them. Ridge also deducted the first callout charge from the final bill. Well done all round.

I would certainly recommend this company. We had problems getting anyone to come and sort out our electric gates. When I contacted Ridge Auto Gates, Ashley came round the same weekend. One of the brick posts was cracked so Ashley put steels into the ground and rehung the gates. He also sorted out our balcony. The steels had badly corroded over the years and they all needed replacing. Communication was excellent throughout and he turned up when he said he would. A first class company and lovely people.
